Balcony Gardening

Last year for my birthday my mom gave me a couple of nice house plants, which Matt and I promptly killed, on accident of course. Ever since then, the pots have been sitting with dead plants out on the balcony, so I finally decided to put them to good use this year. I picked out some flowers at Home Depot and tried my hand at a little gardening. Both plants have already grown a lot and look really good, so I must say, I'm proud!

Happy 4th of July (2 weeks ago)!

I know I'm a little late, but I hope that everybody had a great 4th of July! Matt has been pretty busy between school and work lately, and the week after the 4th he had several tests, projects, and homework assignments. He was busy all day doing homework, but it was fun for me to just relax and be lazy. That evening we decided to hop on our scooter, grab dinner and see the fireworks at Sugar House park. We had a great time playing games, eating snacks, and watching the fireworks.

Down on the Farm

Last week I went to Farm Country down at Thanksgiving Point with Rachelle, Megan, my Mom, and all the grandkids except for Luke. We had tons of fun and were all pretty tired by the end of the day. Everybody especially loved the pony rides and being able to feed the animals. Here are a few highlights!

Happy Birthday to Me

Well, I just turned 23, and it was a really great birthday. Matt woke me up with breakfast in bed, which was delicious. Then he gave me some new ModBod shirts...wahoo! For my other present, he planned to have my ring sautered, refinished, and the missing diamond replaced.
Sadly after that he had to go off to work and school, but I had a great day babysitting, lounging and just doing whatever I wanted. Matt was able to come home early which is about when my Mom called. She was having a rough day and to top it off, her car died. We drove down there to run some errands, and then my Mom took me shopping for some new clothes. Finally, we ended the night by going out to dinner with my parents. It was really a great day. Lucky for me, my birthday dragged out through the entire week! On Saturday my entire family got together for a birthday/welcome home Rachelle and Aaron/welcome Baby Luke to the family party. We had a great dinner, sparklers, fireworks and a lot of fun. Finally on Sunday we went to Matt's parents, where his Dad had made a delicious Salmon brunch. Thanks to everybody for a great birthday!

Welcome Baby Lucas!

Matt and I spent several days house sitting for my brother and his wife while they were in Texas adopting a cute new baby. We had a great time taking care of the dogs, and I got to spend some time with Megan and Molly, but we were definitely happy when they got home with beautiful Lucas Brett Goodrich. He is a doll! While we were there, Matt got to show off his scooter and give out a few rides, and everybody seemed to like it.

You Can Call Me Ol' Fat Eye...All My Friends Do

Has anyone besides me had terrible allergies this year? I just can't seem to take any medication that really helps...it is aggravating. A couple of weeks ago I was playing the piano for an outdoor wedding dinner. I took a break from playing to sit and eat and listen to the program. As I sat there, I noticed that I couldn't see out of part of my left eye. I asked Matt if there was something in my eye, and he just started to laugh, as did the rest of the table. This is why:

I don't know exactly what happened, but it was the weirdest thing. My eye just kept getting bigger and bigger all night! The swelling didn't go down completely until the next afternoon. Unfortunately the next morning I had a job interview with my eye still quite swollen...I had to explain that one to the interviewer!

Speaking of which, I recently resigned from my job and I am on a job hunt. If anybody knows of any great jobs out there, please let me know!

Viva...Manti?

A couple of weeks ago we made our annual trek to the Manti pageant with our friends and Youngs/Hoskins. We have gone almost every year since high school, and I don't think we go so much for the pageant itself, but instead the tradition, and good memories. We got down there in time to enjoy a delicious dinner and some fun games. Emma was adorable during the pageant and kept speaking out (very loudly) at anything she found interesting, which was most of the pageant. Hopefully nearby neighbors found it is funny as we did!
Lauren and her friend Steve were supposed to join us this year, but got a little bit lost. They somehow ended up in Cove Fort (?!?!?!?!?) and couldn't make it in time to see the pageant. Don't worry guys, there is always next year.

Returned with Honor

Two of my very best friends in the whole world got back from their missions last month. Lauren and Teran. These pictures were from Teran's homecoming. It sure it fun to have the SCC reunited! Welcome home girls! This is my best friend Lauren. We have been best friends since high school! Even though I'm married now and things are different, we did still take a night when Matt was at school late, and had a good old fashioned girl's night and a sleepover. It was a blast!

Lauren, me, Shyla, and Teran.

Lessons in Sharing

This is from awhile ago, but it was pretty funny. Tiana is still learning about the importance of sharing and fairness (as is anybody her age). She was kind enough to dish up Grandpa's birthday cake and ice cream, as well as her own. Here was the result:

If you can't tell, I would say Tiana's piece is oh...about...three times the size of Grandpa's. Thanks Tiana for being such a sweetie.

Happy Anniversary

Ummmm...I am a pathetic blogger. I love having a blog, but I think actually creating posts is a pain. Everybody teases me about not blogging for a long time, and then putting up a ton of posts all at the same time. Well, its true, so here we go again!

Matt and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary on June 2nd. It was a fun day! We both took the day off work. We had breakfast in bed, then had a picnic at temple square, and then went to see the "Chronicles of Narnia". Finally we went out to dinner at Tucanos, which was delicious. I am so grateful to celebrate the first year with my wonderful, sweet, thoughtful, and kind husband (the list could go on, but I will spare you all the mush). Everyday with him gets better and I grow to love and appreciate him more and more! Thanks for being the best Matt, I love you!The weekend after our anniversary, Matt planned a special weekend away. We went up to Midway and stayed at the cutest Bed and Breakfast I have ever seen. We went swimming at the crater, which is a hot spring inside of a dormant volcano, then we went to a murder mystery dinner on the Heber Creeper, and then just relaxed the rest of the evening in our room complete with a steam bath, jacuzzi, and a sauna. It was a perfect weekend.
