We Thank Thee Oh God For Our Prophet

Upon hearing the news that President Hinckley passed away, I have shed a lot more tears than I ever imagined I would. Despite my emotions, I know that the Church will go on and we will have yet another wonderful leader. Above all, I know that President Hinckley is overjoyed to be with his beloved wife again, and for those things I rejoice.

Still, I can't help mourning the loss of such a wonderful and inspiring leader. As a 13 year old writing my auto-biography for English class, when asked who I would like to have for a best friend, I wrote "President Hinckley" and I my answer would still be the same today.

President Hinckley was honest and true to himself and his religion in every word and deed and humbly shared this example with millions of members and non-members alike. I will always appreciate his humor and happiness. He truly displayed Christlike love, even to those he did not personally know, such as myself. I know he is a Prophet of God.

Matt and I discussed last night how amazing it is that each prophet is placed at a time when they are most needed. President Hinckley was needed for his extensive business knowledge and public relations skill. He made large changes in attitudes and opinions about the Church in his time. Matt and I both express our love and gratitude for our wonderful prophet, one of the only prophets we have really known in our time. He will be missed.

Just Checking In

I haven't written anything on this blog for almost 1 month now.

In all honesty, I really don't have anything to write, but I figured it was about time to just check in and say we are still alive and kicking.

I was all set to write about our fun weekend. We had plans for a ward snow shoeing activity and then plans with friends. Well, it wasn't such a fun weekend since I spent Saturday on the couch with a cold and a cough. Luckily it was all but gone on Sunday.

We do have some exciting news though...Matt got a job that should work perfectly with his school schedule. We are both excited for him to have a little bit more to do, since he has been pretty bored when he isn't at school:)

All in all, we're still here, but we're just being pretty boring and trying to stay warm in all of this snow. I know its a pain, but we are happy to get out of the drought, and since we are in an apartment and we don't need to shovel the snow....we don't mind it all!

I don't have any pictures for this week, so enjoy this picture of a sight we are all too familiar with these days!

Tag!!

I stole this from my sister's blog, and I thought it would be fun to make my own!!

This means I get to write all the great things about my husband for all to see! Here goes:

What is his name? Matthew Bennett Tanner

How long have you been married? Just over 7 months

How long did you date? I can't give an exact number. We started dating in high school and then while we were in college, then he went on his mission, I dated around and when he came home, we were engaged 6 weeks later. I guess I would say approximately 5 years.

How old is he? 23

Who eats more? Definitely Matt

Who said I love you first? Matt

Who is taller? Matt

Who sings better? Sorry about this Matt...I would have to say me, but he gives a great effort.

Who is smarter? Matt

Whose temper is worse? Mine. Matt will never fight with me unless I'm really getting on his nerves.

Who does the laundry? I would say the majority of the time, I do, but Matt takes a close 2nd.

Who does the dishes? Matt helps with the dishes a lot. If I cook, he cleans up, if he cooks, I clean up.

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Matt

Who pays the bills? I do.

Who cooks dinner? I do most of the time, but sometimes Matt will throw together something different.

Who drives when you are together? Matt- unless I am dropping him off somewhere.

Who is more stubborn? I think that would be me again. Well - I don't know. Matt can be stubborn too. I'll call it a tie.

Whose parents do you see the most? We try to split it, but probably mine more than his.

Who proposed? Matt

Who has more friends? We have a lot of the same friends, but overall because I lived in Logan for 4 years, probably me.

Who has more siblings? I do. I have 4 and he has 1.

Who wears the pants in the family? Matt has the final say, but I'm good at getting my way too.

Thanks for being such a great husband Matt...I love you!

I tag Julie and Chalece

SCC

Chalece and her family are in town again, so all of the girls and our husbands had a chance to get together. It was great to catch up, see everybody (especially Amy...welcome home!) and just do what girls do best, talk.

I'm really grateful for such wonderful friends!

Ski Utah!

For those who know me well, I am not a skiier by any stretch of the imagination. I went once when I was about 14, and I sunburned my eyes and was pretty miserable (how was I supposed to know I should wear goggles?!?!)

Anyway, our friends Jen and Aaron convinced us that we should go night skiing with them, which we agreed to.
Laugh if you want, but I was pretty nervous the whole day. First thing when we get there, Aaron gets me up on the ski lift before I knew what was happening.

So, we arrived at the top of the hill(but only after I knocked over Aaron and caused the ski lift to have to be stopped) and I can barely move on my skis. Aaron was kind enough to give me a lesson, and everybody else was kind enough to wait:)
I eventually got the hang of it...sort of.....
We actually ended up having a lot of fun, although I spent most of the night on my backside, rather than my feet. My attitude is a little bit better about it now, but that night, not so much. I was so sore and miserable for a while there, but now I actually think I could go again...in about 10 years.

Here is how I felt at the beginning of the night:

And here is how I felt at the end:

Happy New Year

Matt and I rang in the New Year in a particularly exciting and crazy way this year...okay, I am being sarcastic.

My brother and his wife and daughter moved to Orem so my brother could start his new job. We spent New Year's Eve helping them move in. We ended up having a lot of fun afterwards at another brother's house. We didn't end up staying until 12:00, because we were all pretty tired.

We ended up going back to my parents' house, and sometime around 12:00 we managed to say "woo-hoo" before we fell asleep...I know...we are such party animals.

We did get to talk with my sister and her family on the Webcam, which was a lot of fun. We can't wait until they move back to Utah in July!

Halfway through the night, we started up an impromptu New Year's Eve Dance. Here is a fun little video:
