Family Camp

Matt's brother, Jameson, was a counselor at an Episcopalian camp this summer. We went up a couple of weeks ago to family camp, and had a great time with Matt's family. We ate lots of good food, hiked, played some fun games, and just got to relax. It was the first weekend after Matt had finished summer classes, so it was especially wonderful! Thanks to Matt's Mom and Dad for inviting us to come along!
Dinner Time!

Waiting for the games to begin.

Here we are at lake Solitude, being carefully supervised by our counselor.

Lagoon! It's What FUN Is!

Since Matt has been in summer school and we've both been working, we didn't exactly have time for the summer vacation we were hoping for. In lieu of leaving home, we have been going on one day outings to different places in Utah. A couple of weeks ago we decided to go to Lagoon since Matt had never been there. Lagoon isn't the MOST exciting place on earth, but I think it was twice as fun going with Matt since it was his first time. We went with our friends Andy and Brittany and had an awesome day! By the time we got home that night, I was absolutely dead!

After riding Rattle Snake Rapids...it was so refreshing from the heat!

I know this is late, but...Happy Pioneer Day!

We had a pretty fun Pioneer day this year. I ended up not having to work and Matt was able to take it off. In the morning we went to the 24th of July parade with our ward. Since I grew up in Utah I have seen the parade many times and it becomes a little common place. This was the first year Matt has seen the parade, and he was just like a kid. He wouldn't sit by me because he didn't want to miss anything. He says that he grew up watching parades with his family and so he really enjoys them.

Later that night we met up with my family for a BBQ and some great fireworks. The big hit of the night seemed to be the princess slip n' slide, not for the kids...but for the adults. It was a hoot to watch Matt, Eric, Brett, and Justin racing down the slide meant for 4 year olds. The fireworks were fun, all of the kids except Tiana were pretty scared by them. The big fireworks show was awesome, and everybody seemed to be okay with that one. Thanks Eric and Heidi for having us over, we had a great time!

Jessica Alba?....Alright!

MyHeritage: Celebrity Morph - Family history - Family history research

So, apparently my celebrity look alike is Jessica Alba. I know, it is a far stretch for the imagination, but we all know the internet doesn't lie...right? Well, whatever...I'll take it for now.

Even better, my handsome hubby is one of the world's most famous Englishmen! Aren't we a handsome couple?

Sick, Sick, Sick!

Thus far, this has not been the best week of my life. On Monday I woke up with a somewhat sore throat, which I figured could be caused by a number of things (cool air blowing on my face from the window during the night, allergies, screaming at Lagoon on saturday, etc.) so I went to work and thought all was well.

I was in a training class on Monday so I was just sitting and listening all day. Progressively throughout the day I felt more and more tired, and sore everywhere. By the time I got to Matt's office around 3, I was miserable, and by the time I was at my office by 3:30 I was barely holding it all together. Unfortunately I had to call and bow out of a big get together with all my girlfriends which I was so sad to miss.

I laid home on the couch completely miserable and tried to go to bed around 8:00. I didn't sleep at all because my whole body was so sore, I had a fever, chills, etc. etc. Tuesday morning Matt called around and found an express care not far from here that charges a very a low fee so I drug myself out of bed, got dressed and headed in.

The doctor looked me over and saw my throat and thought for sure it had to be strep throat, so he did a test. We waited, and waited, and waited and after about 10 minutes it came back negative! I was pretty surprised because I have had strep many, many, many times in my life, and while I don't proclaim to be a doctor, this looked exactly like strep, with all the right signs. He then starts checking me some more and sees a bunch of mosquito bites and says, "you, know, I think this may be west nile virus". Oh well, that makes me feel all better...NOT! He sent in a back-up strep test and told me to wait it out and if it gets worse or doesn't improve to go to an instacare asap. The whole thing was really frustrating, because I'm the sickest I've been in a long time, and he can't even tell me what it is!

I went home and had a miserable day trying to sleep off and on, and all through the day my throat is getting worse and worse. Matt was being a perfect sweetie and taking care of everything. He is even pureeing my chunky soup (yes...that is how bad it hurts). Also, all day my throat is looking worse and worse, and more like strep. Finally Matt's called one of our friend's dads, who is a great doctor and explained the whole situation. He seemed to think that the doctor I saw was silly for not treating me with an antibiotic even if the test was negative, and he kindly called in a prescription for me. I still didn't sleep last night because everytime I started to fall asleep I would reflexively swallow and it hurt so much it woke me up everytime. I finally got up at 1:30 and watched Home Improvement/Fresh Prince of Belair...wahoo!

Anyway, I still feel crummy today and don't know exactly what I have but from all the Doctors' opinions it could be: strep, tonsilitis, west nile virus, mono, or the flu. I choose....strep. So, that's it...I'm sick with strep. I hope I can go back to work tomorrow since I have only been there ummmm...1 week so far. This is really the best timing, but, what can I do? Thanks again to Matt for being the perfect "Mom", cause we all know what we really want when we are sick is our Mom. He has taken care of everything even though he is in the middle of finals week...what a gem. Love you Matt! When I'm all better, I'll make it up to you.

Whoops!

Today I was trying to change my background and I accidentally erased all of my friends and family blogs on the side bar. I'm in the process of putting them back on, but I can't remember all of the blogs I had on there. If you don't see yours on there, can you please remind me of your blog address?

Thanks!

Another Fun Filled Weekend!

So this was my last weekend of unattached fun, because I start work tomorrow. I'm both excited and somewhat bummed to go back...I will admit that it has been really nice to have some time off:)

The weekend started on Thursday with a baby shower for my sister-in-law Heidi and her cute new baby Lucas Brett. It was a lot of fun to get together and chat with my sisters, mom, and my aunts and cousins.

All of the kids loved "helping" Heidi open all of the new gifts. It was pretty adorable.

On Friday Matt and I went out to dinner with Andy and Brittany. They somehow got us in for the opening night at a new Red Robin, so the whole meal was free - wahoo! On Saturday, Matt and I decided to have a full day at Raging Waters. We have been so busy this summer, mostly him because of summer school and work, so we decided to count this as our little family vacation. We had a blast! We both came back sunburned and dead tired. The only bad part of the day was the ginormous slide that Matt convinced me to go down. I think I nearly had a panic attack just getting up to the top of the slide. Matt went first and I just thought..."it's now or never...how bad can it be?" I screamed my head off, and not in an "this is kind of fun" way. I lost my mat in the middle of the slide and panicked about that because I was approaching the next big drop. Luckily I was able to get back on it before I made my big finish by plowing with full force into the water and tumbling all over the place, instead of skimming over it like everybody else does...hmmm...just a tab bit embarrasing. I finished it off by crying, I think mostly because I was pretty shaken up. Anyway, after that the rest of the day was awesome! We finished the weekend off with Sunday dinner at my parents' house!

Memories

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog (if you have one) and leave one about you.

Splish Splash!

Matt and I had a really fun weekend. On Friday night we went over to our friends, Andy and Brittany's apartment for a delicious dinner, and then went to the Friday night movie at Liberty Park. We watched Charlotte's Web, and I must say it was difficult to enjoy a movie about a "friendly" spider while sitting outside in the dark...

On Saturday we went swimming with my sister, her kids, and my Dad. After that we headed over to a going away party for Julie and Jordan. We will miss you guys! Enjoy your time in Arizona!

Finally, on Sunday we had dinner with some of our new neighbors, played some games, and had a great time. We definitely love our weekends!
